The law has changed!

On April the 6th 2016 the government introduced compulsory dog microchipping.

If your dog does not currently have a microchip you should act quickly to ensure your dog complies with the new legislation.

This little microchip means they will always find their way home. (And it’s keeps you on the right side of the law, too)

Dogs couldn’t get micro-chipped in years past.

If your dog got lost, only their ID collar could help them get safely home. And no matter how loud they barked – or how brave they were – that collar wouldn’t keep wicked dog-nappers away.

You see why you’re now legally required to comply with the dog microchipping law – this simple procedure takes about 10 seconds, but doubles the chance of your dog being found.

And if you call 01704 872 924, I can fit your dog’s microchip for FREE.

  • Village Veterinary Surgery understand the importance of protecting your personal information. The information you give to us will be used to determine the services required to provide the right healthcare to your pet - this will include contacting you with reminders for vaccinations and other routine preventative treatments, plus other important notices that may affect/enhance the care of your pet. We will not pass any data to organisations outside of Village Veterinary Surgery without your consent, unless dictated by a court order. Should you have any questions about how your data will be used please contact villagevetsformby@gmail.com

This could add years to your dog’s life. And their microchip is included, too. It’s a permanent, secure method of being traced back home. Isn’t that comforting? Realising they chased that rabbit too far, or crawled under the garden fence is a scary feeling. Now you don’t have to worry. Vets, kennels, animal charities and the police all carry scanners. With one bleep, they’ll see your name, address and contact numbers.

Studies show that dogs without microchips only found home 21.9% of the time. But dogs with microchips found home 52.2% of the time.

That means they’re over twice as safe. What’s more, most of the others failed to make it back simply because owners hadn’t updated their information on the doggy database. We may be wrong, but if you’re reading this, your dog probably doesn’t have a microchip.

So please, book your appointment now.

Or if your dog already has a microchip, please tell us straight away so we can update our records.

There’s nothing to worry about. The chip is slightly longer than a grain of rice. It hurts no more than a standard vaccination.

This law is now in place, and offenders will be fined £500.

So please, call now on 01704 872 924.
